Liv Nam Kaur

Liv Nam Kaur
dabbled in many types of yogas though out her adult life. One day she ran out of yoga class in tears because the very breathing that was supposed to help alleviate her anxiety and depression was too hard to do. Today, it is her good fortune to teach yogic breath, movement and chanting through her beloved practice of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation as taught by Yogi Bhajan. She’s been a student and teacher of Kundalini Yoga going on ten years. Her goal in signing up for teacher training was simply to have a daily practice. She quickly learned that to master a practice, it’s best to teach. And, now years later, she is in the Aquarian Teacher Training academy studying to become a Kundalini Yoga teacher trainer. She is a level two 500 hour Kundalini Research Institute (KRI) certified teacher. She is a member of the 10th Gate Yoga Teacher Training Team lead by Krishna Kaur in Los Angeles.

The name Liv Nam Kaur, means single pointed devotion to God through the Sound Current. In her classes she plays the gong and often chants into it like a microphone. Through the use of movement, breath and voice, she urges students to listen to guidance of their Soul. The idea is to train the mind to follow the breath, calm down and become the servant to the Soul. Liv Nam has experienced tremendous mental and physical transformation as a result of this practice and enjoys nothing more than teaching Kundalini Yoga. She offers a Sacred Circle course for women and will soon offer workshops on posture and mudras in the Valley of the Sun.

The first Tuesday of each month is a Gong Layout Class. The kanji’s on her gong mean, Happiness Comes and Darkness is Swept Away! This is what happens during each class during the lay out.

She is always available and approachable to speak to students after class and in between classes and it is her joy to help students develop a daily practice.

By day she is a licensed social worker, heading up a depression management program in corporate America. She lives a simple yogic lifestyle in central Phoenix, has a garden, two beautiful dogs and loves to travel the world when she can. Her tiny kitchen is known to put out vast amounts vegan gourmet food as well.
